A company that aims to achieve success requires good management and good management depends on good staff and most importantly the application of good rules and their making. They are necessary for the efficient functioning of an organization. Such rules help in the solution of most everyday problems without wasting time of important personnel of the company. There are manifold advantages of god rules. They let the workers know their field of play, their everyday goals and how to approach their tasks. Most amazing advantage is that t promises smooth running of the organization. Body of rules made by the company acts as a solid constitution. It is a glue, binding the employees and the employers. But it should always be kept in mind that rules are made for people and not people for rules. If the circumstances of a particular time require a little bend in the rules, do let them bend officially. It is a pain to apply rules which are unsuitable and does not fit for the hour of need. Such rules are pointless. If a company applies such mindless rules, the outcome would be nothing great. People working in a bad rules zone develop uncivilized habits. They work heartlessly most of the times and often have the goal to just obey the rules. They work minimum possible to just cross the lines of rules. This shows the darkest possible situation of an organization. While making rules, another very important factor that should be kept in mind is that rules should be employee-friendly and could be easily followed. Some rules are so hard and stubborn that although everybody respects them superficially, but nobody actually follows them. Often management is aware of the situation but nothing is done. The danger of this situation is that a sense of acceptance for not following the rules is created. And it is fed into the minds of the people subconsciously. Hence we come to the conclusion that although it is of utter importance to set rules, to maintain them but rules which are of no use are a waste of time and energy and result in a damaged organization. Once working in a very efficient company, I observed a very good example of good rules. A responsible employee, started coming to office late. It was observed by all the office members. After some days, the boss summoned him into his office and asked the reason for late arrival. The employee gave a good reason, and told the boss that the situation would continue to remain so for another week. The wise boss made an announcement that this person can come office officially late for a week. Hence the office rules were saved from damage.
